Niyaz – sufi electronica

Niyaz is a Los Angeles-based music group that combines an eclectic mix of Sufi trance melodies and electronica, often artfully intertwined with medieval Islamic poetry from Persia and Turkey. Their latest album, “Nine Heavens” is a double-disc set featuring “spiritual exploration of Persian, Indian, Turkish and Western dance music” on one disc, and a series of meditative instrumental tracks on the second. Thus, Niyaz continues a long tradition of Islamic Sufi music devoted to God.
