2009 seems like a great year for Muslim hip hop cinema. “New Muslim Cool” is an award-winning documentary on the life of Puerto Rican-American Muslim hip-hop artist Hamza Pérez and their spiritual and social transformation through embracing Islam, as well as an intimate insight into the emerging Latino Islamic community in US. The movie was just signed to a global distribution deal with 7th Art Releasing, let’s hope it hits our theatres soon! Check out the official site.
